The Bethany House was founded in 1986 and opened in 1988 through the work of Julia Throneburg.
In 2018 Bethany will celebrate 30 years as a residential half-way house.  Julia with vision, tenacity and determination fought to change Southern Pines ordinances and to provide funding to purchase and renovate The Bethany House.  As the only halfway house for women in Moore County, Bethany accommodates eight residents. Since opening, “The House” has provided a safe environment for hundreds of women from all walks of life.  They attend school and work while living in a safe recovery environment. Transportation to AA and/or NA meeting, work and school are provided.  Through sober living Women at Bethany build self-esteem so they may re-enter society as productive and positive people.
